Spanish to English Interpreter (Part Time)

About the Role We are seeking a skilled and reliable Spanish English Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication between Spanish speaking and English-speaking individuals. The successful candidate will provide interpretation services in both directions, Spanish to English and English to Spanish, across a variety of settings, which may include meetings, client interactions, community outreach, medical, legal, or administrative environments. Key Responsibilities Provide accurate, real-time verbal interpretation between Spanish and English speakers Interpret in both consecutive and/or simultaneous settings, as required Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreted communications Accurately convey tone, intent, and cultural nuance between languages Assist with translation of basic written materials, correspondence, or documents when needed Liaise between clients, staff, and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication Uphold impartiality and accuracy, avoiding personal opinions or omissions during interpretation Travel to various locations as needed for on-site interpretation assignments Requirements Must be fluent in both Spanish and English (spoken and written) — this is a mandatory requirement Proven experience as an interpreter, translator, or in a similar bilingual role is an asset Strong listening, comprehension, and verbal communication skills in both languages Ability to interpret accurately under pressure and in real time Cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with diverse populations Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor Certification in interpretation/translation is an advantage but not mandatory Qualifications Secondary school diploma required; further education or certification in languages, linguistics, or interpretation preferred Prior interpretation experience in a professional setting (e.g., legal, medical, business, or community services) is a plus How to Apply Interested applicants residing in Guyana who meet the above requirements are invited to submit: An updated resume/CV A cover letter outlining relevant experience and language proficiency Contact information for at least two references
